Keep Your Creator Page in Your Hands When Managers Change

Let a manager maintain your creator page without giving up control of its public address. Separate domain custody, page access and reporting in a reusable handover record.

Use a dedicated domain if your profile-link address needs to outlast your current manager, agency or page provider. Then keep registration access, recovery and renewal responsibility under creator control. The domain provides an address you can keep using; the operating arrangements make that continuity practical. Your manager can maintain the page without becoming the only person able to recover or renew its address.

Separate the address from the work

Treat your creator page as three responsibilities: the domain, the page itself and reporting access. One person may handle all three today, but they should remain distinguishable when someone leaves.

Domain registration and website hosting are separate services, even when sold together. DNS connects the domain to the service displaying your page. Keeping the address does not automatically preserve the layout, media or reporting history behind it.

A dedicated domain is useful when you expect to keep the same public address across management changes. The tradeoff is another account and renewal to maintain. Before publishing it, be able to answer who controls registration, who pays for renewal and how you recover access without your manager.

Keep creator control at the account level

Arrange registration for the creator or their business, with creator-controlled recovery access. ICANN advises people whose domains are managed by third parties to know their registrar and have access to the registration account. A manager saying they will handle everything is not a substitute for that access.

Define the manager’s scope: editing copy, replacing media and updating destinations may be routine tasks. Changes to registration details, recovery contacts or the domain’s connection should require creator approval.

Use delegated access where the service supports it. Otherwise, confirm its supported account-handover process rather than assuming team permissions exist. For an agency roster, keep a separate control record for each creator.

  • Confirm the creator can access domain management and identify the registrar.
  • Check that recovery does not depend solely on the manager’s email or device.
  • Name the renewal payer, reminder recipient and backup person.
  • Record which changes the manager may make and which need approval.

Build a reusable handover record

Create one shared document with the fields below. Keep passwords and recovery codes elsewhere; note where authorized people can retrieve them securely. Update the record when responsibilities change, not just when a manager departs.

  • Public address: Exact profile-link URL, including any path. Acceptance check: it opens the intended creator page.
  • Domain custody: Registrar, registered holder and account controller. Acceptance check: the creator can access registration management.
  • Recovery and renewal: Recovery contact, backup method, renewal date, payer and reminder recipient. Acceptance check: each responsible person acknowledges their task.
  • Page operations: Page provider, account controller, editor and billing contact. Acceptance check: the incoming operator can maintain the page through supported access.
  • Creative materials: Current copy, original media and destination list. Acceptance check: the incoming operator can locate everything needed to recreate essential content.
  • Reporting: Available history, metric definitions and access arrangements. Acceptance check: the incoming manager understands what is available and what remains unknown.
  • Approval and closure: Person authorizing changes and removing access. Acceptance check: the creator accepts the handover before departing access is withdrawn.

Change only what needs changing

A new manager does not necessarily require a new registrar or page provider. Start by listing the responsibilities moving to another person. If only editing responsibility changes, leave unrelated services alone.

ICANN distinguishes changing the registrant, transferring registration between registrars and changing hosting settings. Some registration changes or transfers can involve restrictions, including 60-day locks in certain circumstances. If a registrar transfer is needed, check eligibility before committing to a handover schedule.

Changing page providers adds a separate creative task. Confirm the replacement can serve your domain, prepare the new page and establish which assets or history must be recreated. Do not assume the old service will automatically move your design and reporting.

Walk through a podcast page handover

Consider a podcast creator using host.example for episode, newsletter and listener-support links. An agency currently maintains the page, and a new independent manager is taking over. The creator wants to keep both the address and the existing page provider.

The control record makes this an operating handover rather than a website migration. There is no reason to move registration simply because the editor changes.

  • The creator verifies registration access, recovery details and renewal responsibility.
  • The agency records current destinations and supplies the page copy and original media.
  • The incoming manager receives access through the provider’s supported process and reviews the available reporting history.
  • The creator checks that host.example opens the intended page and that its links lead to the correct destinations.
  • After confirming the new manager can maintain the page, the creator approves removal of departing access and updates relevant contacts.

Apply the record to Unflaggable

On Unflaggable.bio, customers first register their dedicated domain, purchased separately, then choose a plan. TESTFREE activates a 7-day trial of the full selected plan, including its page, AI, Instagram and Virality allowances. The selected plan bills after the trial unless cancelled. After domain registration and trial activation, customers can choose one of 20 layouts or generate their page with AI.

Keep domain and plan responsibilities separate in your record. Confirm supported access arrangements before promising a manager separate permissions or an automatic account transfer.

For reporting, document page views and outbound clicks, with country, city, device, browser and referrer where available. Location is approximate. Recorded clicks have their own link IDs; referrer hostname and utm_campaign may also be available. Page views can record utm_campaign, and standard UTM parameters are forwarded to destinations.

Missing referrers and campaign tags remain unknown. Clicks are not confirmed sales or proof of cross-device attribution. Give the next manager these definitions alongside access so reporting stays consistent.
